Samantha Kershner, a 21-year-old woman from Gran Island, Nebraska, faces charges of incest in two counties after marrying her biological father.

According to sources in that town, the young woman met her father Travis Fieldgrove, 39, when she was 17 after her mother introduced them. At first the relationship between the two was not intimate, but towards September 2018 they began to have sexual contact.

During an interrogation, Kershner confessed to police that he had slept with his father because he had entered "a jealous competition with his stepsister" to see who had sex with him first, according to NTV-ABC, in Nebraska.

On October 1 of that same year, father and daughter married in Adams County, apparently because they learned that their incestuous relationship was under investigation.

This locality does not require blood tests from those seeking a marriage license and only requires those seeking to marry to show their birth certificate and provide their full name. Fieldgrove's name was said not to appear on his daughter's certificate.

Documents presented in court indicated that father and daughter maintained their relationship with full knowledge of their relationship. A DNA test also verified that Fieldgrove is a father of the young woman in a "99,999" per hundred.

In May Fieldgrove was sentenced to two years in prison plus one year on supervised release. The subject received express orders from a judge not to have any contact with his victim.

For his part, in Hall County on Monday, Judge Arthur Wetzel sentenced the woman to 9 months probation. Additionally, father and daughter face incest charges in Davis County, where they were married. She is also accused of giving false testimony under oath.
