Ireland has been shaken by the shocking death of Ana Kriegel, a 13-year-old girl who was savagely tortured, sexually assaulted, and strangled by two twin brothers who ultimately ended her life.

This Tuesday a jury in Dublin found "Boy A" and "Boy B" guilty - as the culprits are identified in court - of the death of the adopted girl who had been born in Russia.

With a grim face, Geraldine and Patric Kriegel, parents of the victim, emerged from the Central Criminal Court of said city after the trial in which a judge found the brothers guilty of the sexual assault that occurred on May 14, 2018.

The deliberations revealed that the Kriegel had more than 50 bodily injuries, had been strangled, and had received a severe blow to the skull and that the skull had possibly been applied to him with a bloody stick and a concrete block found in the abandoned house. to where she was led under deceit by her murderers.

During the trial, the victim's father said that the night of the murder "Boy B" called the family home and that later his daughter went out with him "to go to the park", promising to return soon. But Ana did not return and her parents immediately reported to the authorities. Three days later her lifeless body was found in the town of Lucan, on the outskirts of Dublin.

In court, the victim's parents said that their daughter had few friends and that she was the victim of “bullying”. For this reason, when the mother found out that she had dated the teenager, she became concerned "immediately" because they were not friends, according to CNN.

A video taken by closed circuit cameras showed the victim leaving a public park accompanied by "Boy B". That same afternoon, at around 5:30 pm, a witness said that he saw the boy limping and with his clothes and face bloody.

Remains of 'Boy A's' semen were found on the girl's body, in addition to the fact that in the children's home the police found some shoes with the victim's blood and what the police called a “killer kit” with knee pads, gloves, shin guards, a scarf and a homemade mask that were in the "Boy A" backpack.

Paul McDermott, judge in charge of the case, has requested a series of psychiatric studies and school reports of the children in view of the hearing to be held on July 15 to issue his sentence. In Ireland murder cases carry the death penalty, however in the case of minors the treatment is different so that until now the type of punishment they may receive is unknown.
