Police Arrested For Murder Of Young Mother

The lifeless body of Dominique Clayton, 32, was found by her eight-year-old son in Mississippi. A police officer was arrested and charged with shooting the young mother of four in the head. Relatives of the victim told FOX 13 that Clayton's four children returned home after spending the weekend at their uncle's house. The 8-year-old boy came into his house to ask his mom to get out of the car to make a joke of him but found her dead.

On Monday, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation arrested Oxford Police Officer Matthew Kinne, 38, who was charged with Clayton's death, PEOPLE confirmed. Kinne is in jail without bond. The victim's relatives allege that Kine, who is married, had an extramarital love affair with Clayton. The officer joined the Oxford Police Department four years ago.

Acting Oxford Police Chief Jeff McCutcheon spoke to local reporters after Kinne's arrest and said that he and the victim were "possibly involved." Kinne was not working as a police officer the day the murder happened.

The sister of the dead young mother, Shyjuan Clayton was heartbroken. "He broke us because my sister was the life of the party, he made us laugh," he told FOX 13. "My sister was crazy and fun. Nothing will be the same without it”.

The police chief assured that justice will be done. "We want to assure you that we will not hide behind our police badge," he told WREG. “Our hearts go out to the Dominique Clayton family. We want to thank the family for their patience and their trust in us to investigate this until the end.”
