A Michigan father is accused of shooting his 2-year-old baby in the face during a fight with the boy's mother.

According to the authorities, Michael Christopher Glance, 32, shot little Ryker Glance when he was outside his home in the town of Blackman Township. The terrible crime occurred on April 16 while the boy's parents were arguing.

The prosecution maintains that the baby was sitting with his seat belt on his seat in his mother's car when the defendant opened fire. Glance immediately ran after the mother, Nicole McCarthy, but a gun failure occurred and she did not fire. Thanks to that, the mother managed to save herself.

The boy had to undergo five operations and is in critical condition, but stable in a local hospital, after receiving more than 100 points to treat his serious injuries. A GoFundMe account was created to help the baby. "As a result of his injuries, Ryker has undergone five surgeries in 24 hours to rebuild his face, hand, arm and lungs," says a message on the GoFundMe page. "He has a long recovery ahead and more surgeries pending."

According to prosecutors, the father intentionally shot the boy. The man faces criminal charges related to the violent incident. If found guilty, he could spend the rest of his days in jail. He is currently in the Jackson County Jail on bail from a father and no longer has custody of Ryker. The boy's maternal grandfather, Doug McCarthy, told MLive.com that his daughter has not been separated from the boy since the tragedy. "Her children are her life," she said of the mother, who has two other young children.
