A baby just 1 year old was admitted to a New York hospital in a very delicate condition after accidentally ingesting 20 sleeping pills that were in the room of the luxurious hotel where she was staying with her parents.
According to the press, the little girl went into seizures after taking between 15 and 20 pills in one of the rooms of the Night Hotel, located in the heart of Times Square in an incident that occurred this Tuesday around 7:00 p.m., local time. The family from Brazil was visiting the Big Apple.
According to the New York Post, the 36-year-old mother was reading a book in the room at the time of the events and when she looked up, she realized that her daughter was taking the pills. The girl then began to convulse causing the 46-year-old father to immediately call 911.
The urgency of the situation was such that when New York City police officers arrived at the hotel, they transferred the child to the hospital on patrol. "They wanted to get the girl to the hospital as soon as possible," a source explained to the aforementioned newspaper.
The girl appears to be in stable condition, but on life support at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. Meanwhile the police are investigating the circumstances of the overdose, which is supposed to be accidental.
