Young Man Tries To Kill Baby With Pain Pills

Sarai Rodríguez-Miranda, a young woman of only 19 years old, pleaded guilty to trying to end the life of her newborn niece, by mixing in her milk a lethal dose of pain pills.

As confirmed by People magazine through its online site, the girl would have admitted the guilt of the facts in the Supreme Court of Allen last Monday morning. "I poisoned the bottle with a lethal dose of acetaminophen," she said during her statement.

Officials in charge of the investigation of the case revealed that the young woman decided to try to end the baby's life because she was upset with her brother, apparently because he was living in his mother's house with his fiancée and his newborn daughter..

The intentions of poisoning the baby were discovered by the teenager's mother, who found on her phone several text messages that Rodríguez-Miranda had sent to her boyfriend and in which she told her what she would do.

"[My mom] decided they could stay, so I'm going to crush some pills to kill the baby," read one of the messages written by the young woman. "I already put it in a bottle and left it in the refrigerator … It's funny that I don't have a bit of guilt," he added in his texts. Forensic authorities determined that the milk contained traces of at least nine capsules of the medication Excedrin.

Police arrested Rodríguez-Miranda last September after he was on the run for more than 8 months. On May 18 the sentence that will be imposed on the young woman will be known, who can face up to 25 years in prison for the charges against her.
