New York police found the body of a 21-year-old Dominican woman in the basement of a building in the Bronx. Indira Ramírez's lifeless body was found by police, showing signs of having been strangled, according to official reports. The girl's boyfriend, identified as Ángel Rodríguez, was arrested and is being investigated as a suspect in the crime.

Al Rojo Vivo (Telemundo) reported that neighbors of the young couple stated that on several occasions they had heard screams from the apartment where they both lived due to possible domestic violence. "You could hear her screaming, like she was hitting her, hitting her, raising her hand," a neighbor told the program. Another neighbor stated that the boyfriend was no longer with Indira and they had separated "out of jealousy." "They were like fighting media but I don't know," the young Dominican girl's best friend told Al Rojo Vivo. According to him, his friend was returning from Santo Domingo, where she had undergone plastic surgery.

Other neighbors told authorities that the couple had lived for years in that apartment on Nelson Avenue in the Morris Heights neighborhood of the Bronx. The alarming case has the New York community in mourning. NYPD now interrogates the young woman's partner. According to reports, the boyfriend himself called 911 to report that he did not see Indira days ago. When the police arrived at the apartment and no one answered the door, they broke it down, a neighbor reported. Ángel Rodríguez is also reported to have turned himself in to the authorities.
