Authorities in Grand Prairie, Texas confirmed Monday that the lifeless body found in a lake in the area is that of Weltzin Garcia Mireles. The 26-year-old Hispanic woman and mother of two children disappeared on February 5 after filing a complaint against her husband.

The body was found in Mountain Creek Lake by a person who was kayaking. This lake is close to the home in Grand Prairie that the deceased shared with her husband, Alfonso Hernández, who disappeared along with her and whose body was found floating on February 17 in Lake White Rock, located 22 miles from the area.

The Dallas coroner will now determine the young mother's cause of death, the local Dallas Morning News newspaper confirms.

In late January, authorities issued an arrest warrant against Hernández, who reportedly had an abusive history, after Garcia Mireles filed a lawsuit against him for assault.

According to Atziry Mireles, twin of the deceased, the morning of her disappearance Hernández sent a text message to the family asking for forgiveness and that was the last time they heard from him.

The young woman also explained that her sister had moved with her 6-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy to a cousin's house after having multiple disputes with her partner.

The family became aware of the couple's absence when they discovered Hernández's abandoned car near White Rock Lake. His body was found on February 17 and both his family and that of his missing wife joined together to create a GoFUndMe page and help with the costs of his funerals:

"They are still looking for my sister, but they think she is dead. I refuse to think that, actually, I think someone took advantage of my sister's situation, someone who knew about her incident of domestic violence and took the opportunity to kill her and Alfonso, and I know this because things just They don't fit,”wrote Atziry Mireles on a March 17 post on the Facebook page dedicated to searching for her sister, where messages and photos were constantly being uploaded with the intention of finding her. "Many many things we checked my sister and Alfonso's text messages and they were solving things, he loved my sister very much and he wanted to have a family, he will never hurt his family in this way."

"Once [the Dallas Police] completes their investigation, we will close ours as well," said Mark Beseda, a spokesman for the Greater Prairie Police about the status of the investigations, regarding both deaths.

The couple's children were temporarily placed under the protection of children's services and later handed over to Mireles' family, who now cares for them.
