Raniya Wright, a 10-year-old girl and a fifth-grade student, passed away Monday after a fight occurred in the classroom of her school located in Greenville, South Carolina.

The events occurred around 10:30 a.m. at Forest Hills Elementary School in Colleton County, spokesmen for the school district reported. The student quarreled with a classmate from her grade and was injured before anyone from the school could stop the fight.

She then collapsed in the living room and was taken to the nurse's office where she was unconscious, but still breathing when paramedics arrived, the sheriff's office confirms. The girl was flown to the Medical University of South Carolina hospital where she died.

Ashley Wright's daughter is receiving treatment at the MUSC after being flown from Forest Hill Elementary on Monday 3/26/19 after a fight broke out in the classroom where she was injured.
