It was two years ago that Dayanara Torres and her brothers gave the last goodbye to their beloved father, Don José Torres. And although the Italian-born businessman died of complications from colon cancer, now the former Miss Universe says that the death of her father was precipitated by a bacterium that she contracted after the passage of Hurricane Maria, in September 2017.

"It was my dad who worried me," the 44-year-old Puerto Rican told the Here & Now (Univision) program, recalling the harsh times lived on her land after the passage of the Category Four hurricane. "My dad was sick, my dad had cancer … it was very difficult," he confessed on the verge of crying, stating that in those tough moments he took refuge in his role as a contestant on Look Who Dances.

"Unfortunately, he got sick, he caught a bacteria in the water, he burned his arm from a candle, all from a hurricane," confessed Marc Anthony's ex. "My dad was 20 years older [in life] he was the happiest man I knew," he said in a broken voice.

José Torres died on December 13, 2017 in Puerto Rico. As a tribute, his four children paid tribute to his father by sailing through the Bay of Cataño, in Puerto Rico, listening to the classic song Mi viejo and remembering life with him.

"Goodbye Daddy. With [the song] "My dear old man", your children, your Cataño, ? and the family … "were the first sentences of the message that the Puerto Rican model wrote, along with a photograph in which all of them appeared dressed in white sitting on a boat, observing the sea.
