A Kentucky teacher was caught on video dragging an autistic boy down a school hallway. The video of Trina Abrams dragging the 9-year-old boy lying on the floor by the wrists has caused outrage. The incident occurred in October 2018 at Wurtland Elementary School. The video, which was shared by the boy's mother on her Facebook page on Sunday, went viral and has been replayed by various media including NBC Nightly News.

The mother shared in the post that her son was having an emotional crisis typical of his diagnosis since the little one suffers from "autism, ADHD, PTSD, anxiety and depression)". In addition, the child has limitations in speech, the mother added. The teacher pulled her out of the room in this inappropriate way, injuring one of her wrists by dragging and bending it forcibly.

The mother took him to the hospital after the incident where doctors confirmed that the boy had a crooked wrist. The days after the incident, the little boy showed a swollen and bruised wrist. Two months after the unfortunate event, the school confirmed Monday that the teacher has been fired.

PEOPLE contacted the teacher but received no response from her. The boy's mother wrote on Facebook that the teacher considered her action necessary. "Abrams considers himself completely innocent," said the mother. "My son deserves justice." The teacher will appear in court this Wednesday and the case is still ongoing.
