Actor Bob Einstein, 76, star of the series Curb Your Enthusiasm died earlier today in Indian Wells, California, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer, the Deadline portal revealed.
So far, the type of cancer that caused his death is unclear. The histrion rose to fame for his role as Marty Funkhouser in Curb … for seven years. "I am in shock. I've known him forever, "wrote Richard Lewis. “His role in #curb was brilliant! Our cast and crew are devastated. Friend RIP”.
His brother Albert Brooks, who is a writer and director, also made his pain known through social media: “RIP My dear brother Bob Einstein. A great brother, father and husband. A fun man. We will always miss you."
Before his participation in the HBO series, Einstein trained as a writer. In the 1960s, he won an Emmy for writing alongside Steve Martin on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. He also won the Emmy Award for his work on Dick Son Dyke's The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour and Van Dyke and Company.
Einstein was also the creator of the funny Super Dave Osborne character.
