When the baby of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry arrives in this world, she will do so surrounded by a multitude of gifts that have been sent in her honor to her famous parents.

Almost since the Dukes of Sussex announced that they were expecting their firstborn, last October, the shower of gifts and good things began. Simply on their visit to Australia and the Pacific Islands the couple received 74 stuffed animals, 13 pairs of booties, 9 blankets and much more from Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand and the aforementioned southern country.

When Meghan moved to New York for her baby shower last February, she was caught wearing one of the many gifts she received: a gold plaque around her neck that says "Mommy."

And last March when the couple attended Commonwealth Day in London - and one of their last public events before the baby's arrival - they received more gifts, this time from the Canadian people.

Despite the good wishes of the public, and faithful to their character, Meghan and Harry have asked the public that instead of giving gifts to the great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, they better donate to a number of charitable organizations that they have chosen. and whose names have been revealed in his brand-new and immensely popular Instagram account.

"Instead of gifts, the couple has long planned to encourage the public to make donations to charitable organizations for children and parents in need," said a post published Friday. “If you have already sent a gift, the dukes thank you deeply. If you have not already done so, please consider the following organizations that we have chosen”, pointed out in the message that Baby 2 Baby, Well Child and Little Village are listed as some of the beneficiary organizations.

Dukes receiving gifts in March:

"There is no express prohibition against members of the royal family receiving gifts from friends or family," said Leslie Carroll, a writer and expert on British nobility issues, to TIME magazine.

"If Serena [ Williams] or Amal [ Clooney] want to give Meghan some adorable one-piece outfits, that's not a crime," explained Carroll, referring to the baby shower that the tennis player and George Clooney's wife organized for the Duchess at the Grand Apple. "They bought him things that had a sentimental and personal touch."

What the dukes should not accept, as dictated by the strict protocol of the British monarchy, are gifts from strangers, as Victoria Arbiter, another renowned expert on royalty issues, explains to CNN. As she explained, if someone sends a message by mail and the package has a sender, it will be sent back immediately. If the package does not have a return address, then it is donated.

And what about the gifts sent by companies so that the dukes promote their products with their baby. "Those will definitely be returned [or donated] because none of the royals want to look like a traveling advertisement."
