A 34-year-old rapper who was famous for his bold videos died after falling from the wing of a Cessna plane while recording a music clip, his representatives confirmed.
Jon James McMurray, who acted under the name Jon James, performed
the daring move in Vernon, British Columbia when he walked too far over the wing of the moving aircraft and lost his balance.
James tried to grab hold of the wingtip as he fell but couldn't grab hold and spiraled out into the void.
"Jon held onto the wing until it was too late," said Ryan Desrochers, who was part of his team on CNN. “By the time he released the wing, he no longer had time to activate his parachute. The impact killed him instantly.”
British media point out that after the crash the aircraft pilot was able to regain control and landed without incident.
James constantly shared videos of his sports and adventure exploits. These included dangerous ski jumps and tricks involving one or two planes, among others.
In a recent post James explained “As a child I wanted to be a rock star or a professional athlete - so cliched now - although I played in rock bands at school and loved rap I chose to pursue the dream of being a professional athlete over the music. I skipped a bunch of [classes at] school and basically lived with a friend in his '95 Jeep showing up uninvited at industry events, trying to get me noticed. Finally the tireless work paid off and I went from sleeping in cars and the floor and armchairs to traveling the world.”
It was a legend. I will live forever with your legacy,”said Kali, his widow, through networks. She is survived by her parents and a brother. Rest in peace.
