A young Puerto Rican who witnessed the brutal murder of her pregnant mother a couple of years ago was found dismembered in the Bronx.

The remains of Lisa Marie Velásquez, 25, a Melrose resident, were found last week in two separate packages in the Crotona Park and Hunts Point areas. Part of her body was found in one, including the head with the fractured skull. In another a foot was discovered.

"She was tortured," her aunt, Jacqueline Pérez, told The New York Post newspaper. "She didn't deserve that."

According to police reports, in 2006 the victim and her two brothers witnessed the murder of her mother, Marilyn Ginel, who was nine months pregnant.

After committing his wrongdoing, the murderer - Robert Coakley - threatened the children with their ears cut off and stole the money his mother gave them. Back then, the now deceased told the aforementioned newspaper that the subject had said that she wanted the money "to buy a crib" for the unborn baby and "help" her mother with the expenses.

"My sister was tortured in the past and we had to go through all this," lamented the victim's aunt.

The New York police carry out the corresponding investigations and this Wednesday arrested two suspects: Ciara Martínez, 30, who is accused of hiding the body and hindering the investigations. And Daquan Wheeler, 31, who is accused of murder, hiding a body and tampering with the evidence.

According to the Post, the arrested woman said between sobs that Lisa was "her friend" and that she "loved her". Both were brought to precinct number 42 and are now waiting for their charges to be read in the county criminal court.
