A couple from Emerson, Nebraska faces serious criminal charges for the alleged mistreatment to which they subjected for a long time their teenage children to whom they hid their food, prohibited them from taking baths and that they punished harshly by sitting on them if they disobeyed.

The defendants are Blaine and Donella Busker, 41 and 38, respectively, and now face two counts of child abuse each.

According to documents obtained by the local Sioux City Journal, the couple had the fridge and cabinets of their home locked in a rural area of Emerson, where they reside.

Children were prohibited from taking food without permission. In February, one of them disobeyed and took food from the kitchen because he was hungry - according to his testimony detailed in an affidavit. When his mother realized this furiously, she knocked him to the ground, causing him to hit his head "and see stars," as the same boy described. Then the woman sat on her chest for 75 minutes and finally sent her to bed without dinner.

The children also revealed that their parents only let them wash their clothes once a week and take a bath every other day, keeping the bathroom locked to prevent them from using it.

According to the aforementioned newspaper, the Dakota County Sheriff spoke with the children's mother in June to inform her that she would take her children on allegations of abuse. The surprising response of the woman - according to what was established in the official documents - was that they took her children.

"I have called the State several times and I have asked the State to take the children," exclaimed the woman. According to records between February and June, the woman received $ 5,475.00 from the state of Nebraska for child support.
