Greenfield, Indiana police are accusing a 36-year-old couple of women of giving marijuana to one of their sons in exchange for "behaving well." The couple is now accused of abandonment and it is even suspected that he taught the boy to make cigarettes with the drug.

Susan Glascock and Melissa Burton were arrested in early July and appeared before a judge on Tuesday to hear multiple charges against them, including neglect and physical abuse of a minor.

According to court documents partially released by the Greenfield Reporter, the women were arrested when they went to a shopping center with the boy to sell video games. Back at home, the women began to argue violently about the little money the boy made from the sale.

The minor - who is Burton's son - tried to intervene in the discussion, but then Glascock - weighing 270 pounds - pounced on him and pinned him to the ground, hitting him in the mouth.

The boy managed to flee and was found by the police wandering on a path alone. The women were subsequently arrested.

According to an affidavit, Susan Glascock, 250 pounds, assaulted the boy and perched on him, catching him on the ground:

Melissa Burton is the alleged mother of the minor and Glascock's partner:

"[The boy] suggested that Melissa punished him by saying that he would not give him marijuana if he did something wrong and that when he behaved well Melissa and Susan rewarded him with marijuana," said officer J. Tomas about it.

The minor's grandfather also revealed that the boy had previously been given the drug and that it made him angry. When he comforted the women, they promised "that they would not do it again," according to the affidavit corresponding to the case.

According to said report, the minor did not have his own room and when he stayed at the women's house he slept on the living room floor.

For his part, a social worker from the Department of Children's Services said that both Burton and Glascock confessed to having given the child marijuana on multiple occasions. That would coincide with the statements of the minor, who told the police that the women gave him marijuana at least 50 times within three months.

The case is now being heard in Hancock Superior Court and if found guilty, the defendants could spend up to two and a half years behind bars.
