A group of nurses from Saudi Arabia who were recorded laughing while crushing the face of a newborn baby - who was hospitalized with an infection - have been fired.
Three staff members from a maternity hospital in Taif, Saudi Arabia, were soon identified and suspended.
The parents of the baby realized the shocking treatment of the nurses after the video appeared on the internet and became a viral phenomenon through social networks.
The video shows one of the practitioners grabbing the baby by the neck and head while crushing the infant's face to cause her colleagues to laugh.
Abdulhadi Al-Rabie, a spokesman for Taif Health Affairs, told Daily Mail: "The Health Affairs investigated the source of the video and was able to identify the nurses who appeared in it and the hospital where the incident occurred."
The nurses, whose names have not been released, were immediately suspended after being identified.
Their medical licenses have now been revoked and they are prohibited from practicing nursing in other health departments.
