A creepy family case dismaying the state of Texas.
A 37-year-old mother shot her husband and two children before killing herself in an apparent murder-suicide case that happened at a high-end resort in the city of Galveston, People confirmed.
Authorities announced in a statement that the call to police was made around 4:30 am from the San Luis Resort in Galveston by other guests who heard multiple shots. The reasons for the murder are unknown.
The room was registered under the name of Flor De María Pineda Canas and her husband of 39 years, Mauricio Canas.
Police found the husband and his two children, ages 5 and 10, "lying in bed, all with gunshot wounds," according to the statement. They also found a woman, "lying on the ground with a bullet wound apparently to the head," the statement says.
"The female and one of the children did not respond but appeared to be alive and were later transported to UTMB, where they were pronounced dead."
"Forensic data collected at the scene indicates that the woman is believed to be the shooter at this time, and is believed to have killed her two children and husband before killing herself with a 9mm handgun next to her body". the statement explains. They also found a woman, "lying on the ground with a bullet wound apparently to the head," he adds.
Detectives suspect that the husband and children were shot in their sleep. The woman and the other child did not respond but were transferred to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The relatives of the victims were contacted.
