After insistent information on the internet about the alleged disappearance of a Hispanic private guard who helped stop the Las Vegas shooting, the young man appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres program to clear up doubts about his whereabouts and his state of health.
In its broadcast on Wednesday, The Ellen Show presented the shocking interview with Larry Jesús Campos, security officer of the Mandalay Bay hotel, in which he narrates how he was involved in the tragedy and helped arrest Stephen Paddock, 64, responsible for the massacre.
Accompanied by his coworker Stephen Schuck, who is part of the hotel maintenance team, Campos recounted in detail what happened that fateful night of October 1. He explained that by doing a routine check he realized that an emergency door was intentionally locked. He immediately contacted the maintenance team to have someone check it, but when walking down the hallway behind the door on the 32nd floor, he heard sounds he thought came from an electric drill.
"I started walking down [the hallway] and I think that's what caught the author of the shooting," Campos explained to DeGeneres. Paddock had installed security cameras in the hallway alerting him to Campos' presence, to which he responded by shooting him.
"I heard several shots in a row and protected myself," Campos explained, visibly moved and with the support of his partner, who from time to time patted him on the back to comfort him. “I felt like something was burning me. When I pulled up my pants I saw the blood. That's when I called on the radio to report that shots had been recorded.”
