A little boy of only 12 years old would be the protagonist of an investigation in the town of Sugar Island, in the state of Michigan, since the boy would have stabbed a man several times during a desperate attempt to defend his life and that of his mother.

According to statements made by Michael Bitnar, the Chippewa County Police Chief, on Monday night authorities received several reports of riots and a major uproar inside the home in the town located on the Canadian border.

Initial reports assure that the man broke into the house armed and then shot several times while inside the house. It was then that the little boy gathered his courage, took a knife and attacked the intruder, giving him four stab wounds in the back.

Although details about the reasons that would have led the man to invade the house are still unknown, the police claim to be advancing the investigation but making it clear that they have many points to clarify. "This is a case that is still open," Bitnar revealed to the New York Post.

The boy and his mother managed to escape through the back door of his residence and were found safe by the uniformed men who heeded the community's call. The man in question fled the scene, but hours after the events he managed to be detained by the authorities.

Despite the fact that the suspect has not yet been formally charged, it is already stated that the subject could face multiple charges that would include aggravated domestic assault, possession of weapons and reckless use of a firearm.
