In what is another inexplicable crime perpetrated by a young man, this time in Mississippi, a 13-year-old is being accused of repeatedly stabbing a 61-year-old woman and cutting off her ear to steal her vehicle.
According to KMBC News, authorities detained Corey Smith as the prime suspect in attacking a woman from the Jackson area, immediately after she parked her car in front of her home on Tuesday night.
When the unsuspecting woman walked home, the young man would have run to catch up with her and, investigators believe, he would have started attacking her with a knife, cutting her ear and stabbing her multiple times in the neck and chest. She then allegedly snatched her wallet and the keys to her car, in which she fled.
Authorities said the woman was found in a pool of blood and was promptly transferred to a nearby hospital where she underwent two surgeries and remains in critical condition.
A few hours later the police of that state found the victim's vehicle, an abandoned Toyota RAV4 of the year 2016 in orange color.
Smith, who authorities believe was accompanied by two other people but no further information about them has yet been released, will be tried as an adult on charges of aggravated assault, vehicle theft and armed robbery.
