Heartbreaking scenes were seen Monday in a Florida Lee County courthouse during the sentencing of a 29-year-old man who took photos of a nude Hispanic girl who is now missing.

Jorge Guerrero-Torres was sentenced to 40 years in prison for producing the images of the minor Diana Álvarez, 9, who has not been seen since 2016.

"Please tell me where my daughter is," implored Rita Hernández, the girl's mother, through a court interpreter. "Look me in the face and tell me."

According to documents obtained by People magazine, the man lived from 2015 to 2016 in a mobile home with the minor's family, during which period he apparently developed an improper relationship with her. "Guerrero-Torres kept telling people that Diana was growing up and becoming a beautiful big lady and how pretty she was getting," it was revealed through the aforementioned documents.

When the family began to suspect that the subject was behaving inappropriately, they reported it to the police. But when they wanted to question him, he had already fled. Using GPS geolocation services, Guerrero-Torres's phone was found in Daytona Beach, FL. In the device, the police found the photos of a naked girl, later identified as Diana.

The subject was apprehended and in the interrogations he accepted having had relations with the girl. "[Guerrero-Torres] said that sexual acts with Diana happened at least once a week and that they started when he moved into her home," it was revealed in court documents. "[He] said the sexual acts continued as long as he lived in Diana's house."

The man was charged with the sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 12 and hitting a child. However, the sentence issued on Monday was for one more charge: that of taking sexually explicit photos of a girl with a cell phone.

"Our investigation leads us to believe that Jorge Guerrero-Torres had something to do with Diana's disappearance," Carmine Marceno, deputy sheriff of Lee County, told the News-Press.com site. "Our focus has always been and continues to be to bring Diana back home."

For his part, Thomas Busatta, a lawyer for the minor's family, said that the girl may have died, but the alarm also sounded that she could have been trafficked on the black market as a sex slave.

“[Diana] was able to enter the sex trafficking market and who knows what else. So there is still the mystery, "he said to the aforementioned portal.

Those with clues to the location of Diana Álvarez are urged to contact the Florida Crime Stoppers crime prevention office at 1-800-780-TIPS.
