Cuban Artist Accused Of Domestic Violence

Cuban reggaeton player Chocolate has been arrested after being accused by his girlfriend of domestic violence. The artist, whose real name is Yosvanis Sierra, was accused by his partner Cynthia Cortes of kidnapping her for several days and assaulting her to the point of needing medical help.

Sierra turned herself in to police Saturday and faces charges of trying to strangle, physically assault, and kidnap his girlfriend, The Miami Herald reported. On Monday a judge in Miami put her on bail for nzaron to argue early Sunday morning.

It all started, according to her, when he wanted to return to Miami earlier than planned and was upset that the hotel did not want to return the money for a night already booked. Then the reggaetonero supposedly became violent, hitting her with the rod to open the curtains and biting her in various parts of the body. The report adds that Sierra forced her to sit still, wounded her with a cut glass bottle, and then tried to strangle her, in addition to threatening to kill her. The 24-year-old, who showed the bruises on her body, said her ex-boyfriend was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine when he assaulted her and that he had previously been violent in the three months she had been living with him.

Cortes' mother, Marlene Vinent, said on her Facebook page that her daughter had an operation at the Kendall Regional hospital because a bite on a finger on her left hand had infected her. The mother described what her daughter suffered as “diabolical abuse” and asked for prayers for her.

After the beating, Cortes said she asked the singer of "Palón divino" to take her to a hospital, but he did not allow her to go out or speak to anyone for several days. The singer claimed to be innocent in a video posted on his Facebook account. “Nothing happens to me, we are here well. This is all a lie,”he said. "Well my dearest public, the one that doesn't owe it doesn't fear it. I am innocent and I know that is why I made the wise decision to turn myself in,”he wrote in a message on Facebook moments before, according to The Miami Herald, he turned himself in to the police and was taken to the Turner Guildford Knight prison in Miami.
