Authorities in New Rochelle, New York, arrested the still-husband of NBC Universal Inc's vice president of talent acquisition, Michelle Hord-White, on charges of second-degree murder in the death of her 7-year-old daughter.

According to People, Neil White, 47, was arrested last Tuesday at his residence as the alleged perpetrator of the death of his young daughter Gabrielle, whom police believe he would have suffocated, although the autopsy results remain to be known.

The girl's babysitter, Tonelle Mahon, stated that when she arrived at the house to take care of her, she began to notice strange things, such as that all the curtains were closed. When she called the girl, she did not answer. The one who did appear was the father, who informed him that Gabrielle was asleep in her room.

It was then that she saw blood on the father's wrist and immediately left the house to call the police.

Upon arrival, officers found the little girl lifeless and immediately proceeded to arrest the father, who is being held without bail.

Until now, the alleged motive that would have caused the tragedy has not transpired. The couple had been in divorce since last April and shared custody of the child.

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson said at a press conference that it is a particularly painful time for the city. "Our entire community is mourning this tragic event and is united to offer their thoughts and prayers to Gabrielle's mother and to all who knew and loved her."
