A US translator with high access to confidential information traveled to Syria in 2014 and married an ISIS terrorist, whom she was supposed to investigate and warned her that she was under investigation.

According to CNN reports, Daniela Greene, 38, joined the FBI as a translator in 2011, but it was not until January 2014 that, from the bureau of that agency in Detroit, she was assigned the investigation of the individual, an ISIS terrorist.

Her husband is known in Syria as Abu Thalha al-Almani, an ISIS guerilla fighter who was a German rapper before his alliance with the terrorist organization.

The man, whose given name is Denis Custpert, was known as Deso Dogg as a rapper and gained popularity online with tabloid videos of songs praising Osama Bin Laden and threatening to kill former US President Barak Obama. His influence as a violent jihadist recruiter put him in the crosshairs of counterterrorism authorities on two continents.

The ex-striker is hunted by the US government as a global terrorist and is prohibited from approaching the country.

In June 2014, Greene travels to Syria and marries the terrorist. Two months later, Greene - apparently realizing the mistake she had made - escapes from Syria and returns to the United States, where she was arrested.

The saga of the former federal employee has never been made public as it exposes an embarrassing violation of national security with the FBI - an agency that has made the eradication of ISIS sympathizers nationwide its mission.

After confessing that he made false statements involving international terrorism, and collaborating with justice, Greene only received two years in prison, raising several questions regarding the laws that were applied to his case. The Justice Department asked that his sentence be reduced for his cooperation and information.

The FBI told CNN that following the Greene case, the agency took several steps in a range of areas to identify and reduce security vulnerabilities. The FBI continues to strengthen protective measures for the vital performance of its work.”
