Police in Chicago, Illinois, made an arrest this weekend in connection with a sexual assault by a group of subjects of a 15-year-old girl that happened in the middle of a live Facebook Live broadcast.
The attack happened in early March and sadly, the arrested is a boy even younger than her: he is only 14 years old.
The suspect's name has not been released because he is a minor, however authorities reported that an arrest warrant has already been issued for another 15-year-old boy and that they hope to make more arrests for the crime, which apparently has ties to local gangs.
"The youth responsible [for the crime] should be ashamed of themselves," said Superintendent Eddie Johnson, according to Reuters reports. "Now they will have to answer for this."
According to various sources, the girl's mother reported the attack to the aforementioned police chief. The woman reported that the girl went out to the store and that she worried that she would not return. It was an uncle of the minor who gave notice to the mother of the infamous video.
Following the notice, Johnson and his team - which includes FBI elements - began the investigation, outraged that none of the approximately 40 people who witnessed the attack on Facebook reported it to police. It is claimed that at least one adult was involved in the attack.
