Peruvian authorities are still investigating what could have caused a Peruvian Airlines Boeing 737 plane to catch fire on Tuesday at the Francisco Carlé del Jauja airport in the Junín region.
According to the EFE agency, the aircraft had left Lima with 141 passengers on board and when it touched down in Jauja, it left the runway and the right wing touched down, which generated the fire that can be seen in the video.
About 20 firefighters arrived shortly thereafter to assist passengers, who were able to leave the aircraft before flames reached the fuselage.
One of the passengers, Mario Pérez, told a local channel that upon landing they felt a strong impact, which caused great alarm among the travelers, who, despite this, maintained their sanity. That allowed them to leave the ship safely through the doors on the left side of the plane, where there were no flames.
The airline praised in a statement the actions of the pilot and crew in managing to evacuate all passengers without having any "serious accident".
