Celebrities and the general public reacted angrily to United Airlines' move yesterday to ban three young women from boarding one of their flights between the cities of Denver and Minneapolis.
According to People's report, the alert was fired by Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Dead, who was on that flight when she saw the girls being barred from entering. She immediately released it on her Twitter account, where she said: "A United agent is not letting some girls in the eggings get on the Denver to Minneapolis flight because lycra is not allowed?"
Among the celebrities who reacted to her tweet was model Chrissy Teigen, who said: “I have flown through United before literally without pants. Just a blouse as a dress. Next time I will wear only jeans and a scarf, he said.
Actress Patricia Arquete was also upset with the measure, and sent this message:
"Why aren't they allowing girls to wear leggings on flights?" He wrote, among other things, while asking, "Do you understand that you just made at least half of your clients very unhappy?"
The airline immediately responded to these tweets, explaining that this is a measure that applies only to passengers traveling with employee travel coupons.
Despite the clarification, Arquete did not change his mind and asked that this policy be updated.
Others echoed his point of view, such as comedian Sarah Silverman, who suggested that the airline reconsider that policy.
Although the identity of the girls was not revealed, the company did clarify that for passengers in general, the use of leggings is not only allowed, it is even "welcome".
