The gruesome crime committed by a Honduran teenager who beheaded his mother Monday has rocked North Carolina. The investigation of the case has revealed that the young man showed cold blood when calling 911 to confess what he had done.

According to the AP agency, Oliver Funes-Machado, 18, had a conversation of approximately 17 minutes with 911 operators calmly describing what had happened.

The young man confessed to beheading his mother, that his father was away from home at the time and that he was accompanied by his 2 and 4-year-old brothers. "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you," he assured the operator, who in the background heard the crying and screaming of the minors.

"Why did you kill someone?" Asked the operator, to which the young man replied "why I wanted to," according to documents obtained by AP.

When the police arrived at the home in the town of Zebulon, about 30 miles from the state capital, Raleigh, they found the young knife in hand and with the head of his mother in the other.

The victim's name, Yesenia Beatriz Funez Machado, 35, was revealed by her second son, 14, who was at school when the events occurred.

The young man, who faces charges for first-degree murder, suffers from mental problems - which he did not specify - and was taking about four medications to treat them, his defender, C. Boyd Sturges III, warned.
