Escambia County, Florida police have unleashed a manhunt for a couple accused of murdering at least three people in two states and shooting a 28-year-old mother in front of her son.

In the latest assault on Monday, officers responding to the complaint of a home invasion found Kayla Crocker inside the building seriously injured by a shotgun blast. Her 2-year-old son was unhurt in the attack.

The suspects' names are William Boyette, 44, and Mary Rice, 38, and are considered "armed and dangerous," a spokesman for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office Chip Simmons told People. "What we are experiencing is a nightmare."

According to the magazine, the individuals began their killing streak on January 31 in Milton, FL, where they allegedly killed Alicia Greer, 30, and Jacqueline Moore, 39, who reportedly had a relationship with Boyette.

The couple allegedly re-committed murder on February 3 when Peggy Broz was killed outside her home in Lilian, in the neighboring state of Alabama.

“In short, we have a murderer. He is among us, Simmons stressed. “Everyone, I repeat, everyone should be aware of this. Take into account what they are like, how they have been traveling and take the necessary measures”.

The couple are believed to be traveling in a cobalt blue Chevrolet car.
