A young Michigan mom has been charged for the death of her 6-month-old baby, who she was allegedly left strapped to her infant seat for two days, without feeding.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Lovily Johnson faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree child abuse in connection with the death of his son Noah.

The defendant allegedly confessed to police that she intentionally left the boy inside his apartment tied to his child seat for two days, without air conditioning or food, local channel WZZM said.

Authorities began investigating the case when Johnson presented the boy's body to a hospital, where they could only certify his death.

Subsequently, always according to local media, he told police that he had passed the apartment where he had the baby several times, but had not provided him with any food.

In her first appearance before the judge, the defendant did not seem to understand the charges against her and a plea of not guilty had to be filed on her behalf when the charges were read to her.

Another daughter, Johnson, 2, is under the care of the state Department of Health and Human Services.

In addition to the charges related to Noah's death, Johnson faces an additional charge of violating probation related to a misappropriation of funds sentence. According to WZZM, she was found guilty of embezzling $ 200 in an incident that occurred in 2016.

The defendant for now remains behind bars without bail waiting to appear again before a judge on August 2.
