After several days of negotiation, the El Angeles Galaxy confirmed that it has hired the Mexican Javier Hernández as its striker. With this contract, Chicharito will receive seven million dollars a year, making him the highest-paid footballer in Major League Soccer (MLS), as confirmed by the American magazine Sports Illustrated.
"Sources told SI.com that the Galaxy signed Javier Chicharito Hernández of Seville with a contract that will make him the highest paid player in MLS," the publication said. "Mexico's all-time top scorer will take the place left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his two goal-packed seasons in the league."
Hernández began his career at the Mexican club Las Chivas de Guadalajara. In 2010 he became a striker for Manchester United; later he played with Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and Sevilla.
"It is a scoring machine," his colleague Carlos Vega, who plays for the Los Angeles FC team, told the media. "He's always there looking to score goals, (but) he also does a very good job defending his team."
According to this medium, this signing places Carlos Vela in second place in the aforementioned league as he receives 6.3 and thirdly Michael Toronto, from Toronto FC, with 6.5 million. In addition, Hernández now also ranks first among the highest-paid Mexican soccer players, according to ESPN sports specialist José Ramón Fernández.
It is expected that the Galaxy will make the announcement of this recruitment officially shortly, and that Javier Chicharito Hernández will report to his new club next week.
