Eight years have passed since the British designer Alexander McQueen committed suicide and today he has become news again due to the announcement of the documentary about his life that the Lionsgate studios will publish on July 13.

From what can be seen in the trailer that was released this week, the documentary will show details of the designer's life, his unique way of understanding the world of fashion and the problems that led him to take his own life.

"He thought the system was against him," one of the interviewees was heard in the documentary about how badly the designer who became an absolute star on the fashion circuit was famous.

The documentary also shows some unpublished images and statements in which one can intuit the internal demons against which the genius was fighting, such as the "enormous pressure" to which he was subjected by having to present 14 collections a year. "The fragility of life … We can all be dismissed so easily. You're there, [and suddenly] you're gone,”he says in one of the scenes.

His cocaine and other drug addiction problem was also well known and it was even revealed after his death that he had suffered several overdoses and had already attempted suicide on other occasions.

Over the years, many close friends, fashion experts, and others who worked with him have told the media that the designer was tremendously attached to his mother, Joyce, and that he could not possibly overcome his loss.

McQueen was found by police at his home in the Mayfair neighborhood of London in February 2010. He was 40 years old and hanged himself the day before the funeral of his mother, who had died of cancer a few days earlier.
