The war between humans and machines continues in Terminator: Dark Fate (Paramount Pictures). In this sixth installment of the saga created by James Cameron, Linda Hamilton returns with her seasoned Sarah Connor and is accompanied by Natalia Reyes. "It was a challenge to prepare myself physically for that character, to make a movie in another language," says the Colombian. "The fact that there are Latinos starring far from the usual stereotypes seems to me to be a reason to see it." Learn a little more about this actress who is ready to conquer Hollywood.
Was it difficult for you to act in English?
It is part of the challenges. I have always liked languages a lot, I've been practicing English for a long time, but making a movie not only acting, but being all day on set and in another language does generate additional pressure.
You are part of a new Latin wave
It is a change that is taking place not only in the entertainment industry but in the world, it is a moment in which Latinos have reached roles in which we never even imagined that we could reach before. It is a very good time for Latinos.
How did the news get to you that you stayed on the tape?
I was in Cartagena, Colombia. I wasn't expecting it at all. They sent me the request to send the video and I did it as part of my job, but really without expecting that this could come out. I was with my husband and by chance my parents were with me and it was a great joy. It was the director who called me, I started crying. I couldn't react from the emotion it gave me.
What was it like working with Linda Hamilton?
It was an unforgettable experience. Meeting her was the greatest gift because apart from being an amazing actress and inspiring woman, she is a person with a giant heart. It is one of the best gifts that I take.
Why watch the tape?
It seems to me that it has the ingredients of the first two films [of the first saga]. On the other hand, it is up-to-date, it is relevant for the moment we are living and for the diversity. The fact that there are Latinos starring far from stereotypes of always seems to me that is a reason to see it.
