A trip to Miami with her friends changed the life of the Argentine model Valentina Ferrer forever. From there to the runways, Miss Universe, star in a music video with J Balvin and end up touring the world with the Colombian. What are you waiting to know its history?

Did you always know you wanted to be a model?

From a very young age I liked modeling and acting, but I grew up in a very sporty family where we played more basketball and did a lot of sport, and I kind of forgot the part about wanting to be a model.

So how did you go from basketball to the catwalk?

After studying physical education in Buenos Aires […], at the age of 20 I went on vacation with my friends to Miami and that's where Erin Lucas, the director at the time of Elite Model [Management], saw me and asked me about what was not a model. Just that week was Swim Week, Miami's swimsuit fashion week, and I was offered to start parading by plowing with no one, thank God every human being is unique, neither better nor worse, different, and for you have to be doing your best without thinking so much, and enjoy it.

You went very far in the contest, you were in the top 10. What did your family tell you?

Yes, Argentina had not reached that position for thirty years. They always understood that I had to do something like that because I was always the artist of the family. I put together choreographies with my sisters, catwalks … they always felt that I had to do this, but the Miss Universe thing at first made them laugh because they couldn't believe it. I never did my makeup, I never wore heels. My mom said to me: "I don't know where you came from, Valentina". Now for example I tell you that I appear in fashion magazines [for which] anyone would congratulate you, but my family doesn't even know what magazines are those.

Does that keep you grounded?

Totally and I appreciate it. It keeps me in the real world and without pressure. I am going to see my family and I feel that I am in reality, in the pure.

You have already premiered on the red carpet with J Balvin, how did you choose your looks for those events?

The truth is that I had almost no time and a team of stylists solved it for me. I really like feeling comfortable and being able to continue being myself. For example, for Premio Lo Nuestro the idea was to look for a style that was mine, but within the elegant and well-arranged. […] I gave her my touch with loose hair and more fashion, the most modern earrings.

Do you also consider the look he is going to wear?

[In Premio Lo Nuestro] I didn't even know what he was going to wear. He analyzes everything more in fashion things, he knows. The Grammy dress, for example, I got just the day before. They showed me several options, I was comfortable with that and that's it. [On special occasions] I like to [wear] an elegant and sexy style. Neither too sexy nor so elegant, that it makes me look bigger.

And when you are not working?

Or very tomboy, with men and big things, or sexier-rocker, more fashion. I love heels, I am super high, but if it were up to me I would go in heels all the time. I love Balenciaga, the wallets and the boots, it goes a lot with my style.

Now you travel a lot between Colombia, Miami and New York, what is your skincare routine like when you are flying?

I like to put the disposable masks in the freezer before putting them on and when I travel a lot and change the weather [I also] like to use a mask to close pores and scrubs.

How do you prepare before a photo shoot or casting?

I try not to eat with a lot of salt the night before so as not to retain liquids and I really like to put on fresh masks in the morning to deflate the face and give it a glow, [in addition] the makeup is much better. I like those of La Mer and also natural oils.

How do you live all this media attention that you are awakening?

I enjoy it, I love going to events, I love music and I love being able to accompany him. For that part I really enjoy it and I feel comfortable with the cameras, with that I have never had a problem. Now, for example, I have started working on the Betty series in NY (Telemundo) and I have loved the experience. It is a comic series and I love comedy, laughing at myself. The role is me, so that's the best, with my same name and everything. It was very interesting and a lot of fun.

Would you like to focus more on acting?

Yes, I would like to be able to do some series or movie, and then dedicate myself to having a family, continue working, but being able to raise my children. I don't [want it to be] so long term because I've always been clear that I want to be a young mother. I would like to have at least three children.
