When did you start to consider dedicating yourself professionally to makeup?

When I suddenly became a single mother I realized that I had to make a living in some way to support my daughter. I went to Los Angeles Design and Marketing School to study fashion design and started working at a makeup booth. I realized that living in LA could have a fun career, I was horrified at the idea of working in an office or doing the same thing every day.

What was the best and worst of your beginnings as a makeup artist?

The best thing was always to make someone feel beautiful with my work, to make my clients feel good about themselves and confident. The worst when things did not turn out that way. Fortunately, those times were less common.

When you created Beauty Blender, did you imagine that it would have this tremendous success?

No the truth is no. I knew I was meeting a need that both I and my fellow makeup artists had. I figured I'd make a few beauty blenders to get some extra cash selling to professionals. It was a surprise when professional makeup stores wanted to buy it. The fact that it reached everyone outside the professional field did shock me a lot at first, but I realized that it was because the product was really good and allowed any woman to make up quickly and with an incredible result. Who doesn't want that?

What is the best way to make your beauty blender last longer and get the most out of the product?

Wash it! Really, keeping it clean makes it last longer. Just make sure you clean it with a very mild soap. We have made one liquid and one special solid for the beauty blender because the material it is made of is very special.
