We cannot deny that if we calculate the hours we invest in our beauty routine, we would be surprised and much more the girls who wear makeup every day. Now, imagine all the time it takes to get ready for a woman like Hillary Clinton during a political campaign. The time it took her to be presentable for all her appearances to the press and voters, is one of the topics that the former presidential candidate touches on in her new book What Happened.
"I've never gotten used to all the effort a woman in the public eye has to do [to get ready]," Clinton says in her memoirs. “I once calculated the hours I spent doing hair and makeup during my campaign. It gave me about 600 hours or 25 days. I was amazed [that] I even counted twice.”
And it is not for less. In 2016 Clinton became one of the most besieged women in the world and her appearance was one of the favorite subjects of many. Although she is not a woman who wears a lot of makeup, her grooming was very thorough and specific. Of course, the former candidate says that while sitting in the makeup chair she used the time to make calls and prepare for her meetings.
"I almost never get jealous of my male colleagues, but the times they do give me is when I see the way they bathe, shave, put on a suit and are ready to go," he explains in the book. “The times that I have gone out in public without makeup, it has been news. So I go back to that chair and dream of the day that women can go out in public without having to wear makeup if they don't want to and nobody cares."
