2016 has been a great year for Ana de Armas. The Cuban actress arrived in Los Angeles just two years ago and has already managed to work with some of the most respected names in Hollywood. With two movies to premiere and another one in full shooting, de Armas has many reasons to be happy. We talked with her about her two new films War Dogs, which opens on August 19, and Hands of Stone, which opens on August 26, the wardrobe of each one and how it is to work with actors of the stature of Harrison Ford.

How do you feel about the release of your two movies?

I am very happy, that the two come out one after the other makes me very excited because they are two completely different characters and it is very exciting to have them on screen at the same time.

Tell us about the wardrobe for each of them. They were very different, weren't they?

In Hands of Stone one of the things that I liked was the wardrobe since it was a lot of fun because we played three decades: the end of the 70s, 80s and 90s. And so, as the characters grew they showed in the clothes they wore and We went from very basic things, the school uniform and clothing of poor people, to locker rooms much more ornate and shiny. This style was a lot of fun for me, wearing all these clothes and jewelry and makeup so exaggerated. War Dogs was the complete opposite. She is a girl from Miami who lives in a very modest way and does not have many resources or money, she is always in flip flops, leggings and T-shirts. And then she gets pregnant so it becomes much more basic. So it was different because it had much more comfortable and simple things.

And speaking of Hands of Stone, which goes through different times, what were your favorite looks? Is there a particular outfit that you really loved?

I loved a look that was yellow and black, skirt and blouse, when we went out in a funeral scene.

We have been seeing you on the red carpets and it shows that you are a fashion lover, you always look impeccable and you do not always go with the traditional options. How did you create your style?

I have listened a lot to the advice that my stylist Micaela Erlanger gives me. I trust her very much. We always talk about the ideas we have and the options there are. I think the most important thing for me is to feel comfortable and feel like I'm still me.

How did it feel to work with such a talented team in both films?

Hands of Stone was a very intense experience. We were filming in Panama for three months and it was really like a great family all together. It was wonderful to work with director Jonathan Jakubowicz, he is very talented with a great passion for cinema and he takes great care of the actors. And with Edgar Ramírez, who is another Latino who is succeeding and is one of the most incredible actors I have worked with. It was a wonderful experience. War Dogs was also amazing, although for me it was a much shorter process because I didn't have many scenes either. Todd Phillips is a very talented director. There was a control and a measure on everything that was going to be done in each scene, at all times, and everything was very well calculated. And the same with Miles [Teller]. Miles is a super generous actor and is a very good partner, attentive to everything you want. They are actors who see them on screen and say 'hopefully one day I can work with them' and then you are on set with them and you can't believe it.

What projects do you have in the future?

I'm currently shooting the second part of Blade Runner. I can tell you that I am extremely excited and happy and that it is an honor for me to be in this movie working with actors like Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. I'm in the clouds! We're halfway through filming and I still don't believe it.

War Dogs premieres on August 19, 2016.

Hands of Stone premieres on August 26, 2016.
