Motherhood is not what Eva Mendes thought. The Cuban-American actress believed that she would no longer have night fun after the birth of her daughter, but it has been the opposite. Now she is more awake than ever!

"I thought my nights out were over," Mendes jokes in an interview with Violet Grey's The Violet Files digital magazine, for which she did her first photo shoot after giving birth.

Luckily he has the support of his partner, Ryan Gosling, in the care of the girl. "I'm doing it without a babysitter for now, but I'm open to the idea of having a babysitter in the future," she says. "For me, being a mother during this early stage is that struggle of not being able to sleep and not knowing what I'm doing and going through it with her and battling those nights."

Mendes, 40, and Gosling, 34, agreed to choose the name of their eldest daughter Esmeralda Amada, who was born in September. "Both Ryan and I love the character of Esmeralda in the Victor Hugo novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame and we think it is a beautiful name," he says. And adds on the baby's middle name: "Beloved was the name of my grandmother."

The also designer -who will soon launch her collection for the Christmas season with New York & Company- ensures that her priority is the well-being of her two-month-old daughter. The actors - who fell in love during the filming of the movie The Place Beyond The Pines in 2011 - are trying to make the baby have a normal childhood within her fame. "Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda. I think it is unfair, but that is our reality,”says Mendes, who stayed as far away from the cameras as possible during her pregnancy.
