Pablo Lyle Pleads Not Guilty In Man's Death After Road Rage Argument

Telenovela actor Pablo Lyle is on house arrest after fatally punching an elderly man during a road rage argument in Miami last Sunday. The incident occurred at a busy intersection in Miami. According to the police report, the 32-year-old Mexican actor was in a car on his way to the airport when his brother-in-law, who was driving the car, made a U-turn at NW 27 Avenue and 14 Street, cutting off the vehicle driven by Juan Ricardo Hernández. Apparently the 63-year-old Cuban man got off his car and knocked on the window of the vehicle that cut him off, where Lyle was a passenger. According to witnesses, Lyle's brother-in-law (who was behind the wheel) asked Hernandez to stop hitting the window. Minutes later, the actor got out of the car and ran toward Hernández who was walking back to his vehicle, giving him a punch that turned fatal. The elderly man fell to the ground and hit his head, being knocked unconscious. The incident was caught on surveillance camera, and the video has gone viral.

Lyle got back in the car and fled the scene, according to police. Witnesses called the cops and Hernández was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was diagnosed with internal bleeding and cranial fracture, as reported by CBS Miami citing official documents. The actor headed to the airport where he dropped off his family, who were traveling with him in the car. Afterward, he and his brother-in-law turned themselves in to the authorities. The Mexican actor is awaiting his trial and faces possible manslaughter or second-degree murder charges, according to reports.

The star of soap operas like Mi adorable maldición and Corazón que miente is married to actress Ana Araujo, with whom he has two small kids: son Mauro and stepdaughter Aranza. The entire family is distraught over the actor's uncertain future but are not losing hope. Pablo's brother Jorge told El Gordo y la Flaca (Univision) that his brother is emotionally devastated, and he has never intended to take a man's life. “Pablo is a great human being, he is a great guy. Those who know him know that,”he said about the actor, whom he assures is not aggressive. "We are staying positive," Jorge added. "We have hope that things will turn out fine. The family is very united, we stand with him and we will get through this.”

Latin celebs like Venezuelan actress and former Miss Universe Alicia Machado have reacted to the tragedy on social media, generating heated debate over the incident. Machado commented on the case on the Instagram account of TV show Suelta la Sopa: “In this country, the justice system is relatively fair depending on how skillful the defense team is. You don't wish jail time upon anybody. It's sad for both parties involved. Blessings."

Actress Sofía Castro showed her support for Pablo, stating on Mexican TV show Ventaneando: “He knows I love him, I adore him, he is my compadre, my brother and I'm with him above all things.” Lyle has pleaded “not guilty” to Hernández's death and said after his arrest that he only wanted to protect his family and his 6-year-old son who was in the car, according to reports.

On the other hand, Hernandez's family told local media they want justice for his death. “I hope he spends the rest of his life in jail”, the man's widow said about Lyle, while his son, Juan Ricardo Hernández Jr. added that his father “was a good person who didn't deserve this.”
