What a diplomatic scandal that has formed after the emergence of a video that captures the Mexican ambassador in Argentina robbing a famous bookstore in Buenos Aires that has gone viral.

The video was recorded on October 26, but it was not released until Sunday. There you can see Óscar Ricardo Valero Recio Becerra, 76, inside the Grand Splendid bookstore holding a book and then awkwardly trying to hide it between the pages of a newspaper he carried.

In another moment of the video, the diplomat is observed leaving the bookstore and passing through electronic detectors that began to sound his alarms. There, a group of plainclothes security guards are seen walking towards the suspect to arrest him.

Ambassador Valero, days before the video came to light:

According to the AP agency, the incident was processed in the Tenth Court before Judge Julián Ercolini, who asked to write an act and take the ambassador's statement before the citizen police.

Ironically, the events, which have cost Valero his position, occurred because of a book that was only worth Casanova, a seductive secret agent and swindler from Venice.

In Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, secretary of Foreign Relations, called the diplomat to Mexican lands and ordered an investigation to be launched, according to spokesmen for the agency.

For his part, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador regretted the case and asked “that there be no public, political lynchings. (…) We all make mistakes, everyone, I don't know who can say that they don't make mistakes. Where is perfection?"
