Extreme violence again shakes Mexico. This Tuesday it was confirmed that an extensive Mormon family of North American origin and residing in Mexico was the victim of an ambush and that nine of its members have died, including four children and two babies.

The violent events occurred this Monday, the 4th, in the vicinity of the Los Janos municipality, on the road to La Mora, a Mormon community of the Lebrón family that is located on the border of Chihuahua with Sonora.

According to accounts, the family was traveling in a convoy of cars when they were ambushed by unknown individuals who sprayed bullets at the vehicles and then set fire to a suburban van.

Inside were the bodies of Kendra Christina Marie Langford Johnson, 29; Dawna Langford, 43; Trevor Langford, 11; Rogan Langford, 2; Rhonita Miller, 30; Howard Miller, 12; Krystal Miller, 10, and 8-month-old twins Titus and Tiana Miller.

Miraculously Devin Langford, 13, managed to escape and walk about 14 miles to the La Mora ranchería, where his family lived, to ask for help for his brothers, whom he hid with branches and brush.

"We are all in such a state of shock right now," Willie Jessop, a relative of the victims and a Utah resident, exclaimed to NBC. "This is incredible, there are simply no words to make up for what happened."

Alex Lebarón, one of the family members, shared this video of the charred car where his family was traveling asking for help from the international community to end the terror that the drug cartels are sowing in that region of Mexico:

A message circulating on networks indicating that eight children survived the massacre thanks to the brave actions of the 13-year-old boy Devin:

Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Alfonso Durazo, confirmed in a press conference the official death toll and confirmed that a minor is treated for a gunshot wound to the back, as reported by the magazine Proceso.

For his part, Manuel Andrés López Obrador, President of Mexico reacted saying: I send a condolences, a hug to the entire LeBarón family … it is a regrettable disgrace because innocent children lose their lives. We are going to do what corresponds in these cases and it is our obligation to collect all the information”.

For his part, President Donald Trump was more direct and in two tweets said: “A wonderful family of friends and family from Utah was caught in the violence of drug cartels that were being shot with the result of the death of great Americans. [The United States] is ready, available and capable "to help Mexico" to erase these monsters."

Relatives of the Lebarón family have started a fundraising campaign to start the burial and wake procedures for the multiple victims. May they rest in peace.
