Man Murders His Pregnant Partner On The Street In Ecuador

The violent death of Diana Carolina Ramírez Reyes, 22, has shaken the world. The young mother of two children, who was pregnant with her third child, was stabbed to death by her partner in the middle of the street in Ecuador. Far from trying to help her, the witnesses to the crime recorded the incident with their cell phones, transmitting the violent event on social networks. The video of the murder has gone viral and dozens of people have filled the place where the victim died with candles, flowers and other offerings, praying for her eternal rest.

As reported Here and Now (Univision), Diana Carolina was escaping an abusive relationship with her husband, with whom she had two children. The young mother then met Venezuelan immigrant Yordi Rafael Lozada, also 22, with whom she began a love relationship and with whom she became pregnant. According to family members, Yordi was also violent with her and on January 19 he went to visit her at the food stall where she worked. The young Venezuelan was upset that she wanted to end him and the fight turned violent.

No one could imagine what happened next, when Yordi grabbed her pregnant partner by force and threatened her with a knife in the middle of the street in the city of Ibarra. Hundreds of people recorded the violent event with their cell phones. The video shows how police officers surrounded the man as he continued to threaten her. 911 operators received more than 10 calls from witnesses asking for help for the young woman in distress. However, neither the more than 20 armed police officers or the approximately 300 people who saw Yordi harassing her with a knife, came to Diana's defense.

Diana's father was the only one who ran to the scene when he heard the news on the radio and although he tried to intervene, the police officers put up with him so that he would not get to where Yordi was holding his daughter.

Yordi dragged her with the gun about a mile away, from the place where the young woman worked to the corner where he finally stabbed her. Diana was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died, along with the baby in her womb. Rest in peace.
