The sexual abuse of minors case that involved the young Spanish Marta San José and grabbed headlines in 2017 has come to light again with new details.

It all started when Dale and Claudia Leary, a couple from Florida, hosted at least eight exchange students at their Cutler Bay home.

Dale Lary was under investigation in 2013 after a complaint emerged saying he was "very intimate" with his students, but the case was closed for lack of evidence.

According to police records, Leary abused at least two more students and a teenage relative.

In 2017, he was arrested for abusing a 14-year-old girl, the sister of his Marta San José, apparently with his consent. Marta San José married Dale Leary after he divorced his wife Claudia.

San José and Leary then convinced the teen to perform sexual acts on them multiple times, according to the complaint. The teen also alleged that Leary gave her "an unknown quantity of alcoholic beverages" that intoxicated her, before he asked her to pose nude to photograph herself with his wife, the complaint states.

Leary's criminal case was dissolved when Leary took his life. The case against Marta San José was also dissolved.

Although Claudia Leary was never arrested in the alleged sexual assault case involving the teenager, she was investigated in the case of her ex-husband's death.

But new records indicate that Dale lied about previous sex crime charges when he applied to have the students at his home.

But not everything was there.

Now San José is suing Claudia Leary and the company that processed the exchange, CCI Greenheart, for damages.

As reported by The Miami Herald, Greenheart and Claudia Leary coordinators stated that the lawsuit is invalid because the 4-year statute of limitations has expired. Lawyers in San José insist that the young woman, now 22, was under Leary's control and had no way to report the abuse.
