A three-year-old girl's birthday party ended in tragedy. Little Ruya Kadir was celebrating her party in Idaho on Saturday when a man allegedly stabbed several people present. According to authorities, the man attacked six children and killed three adults.

The Boise Police Department confirmed that the birthday girl died Monday after being hospitalized due to the serious injuries she received. Kadir and her party guests were all refugees. The victims were refugees from Ethiopia, Iraq and Syria.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC), an organization that is helping families affected by the tragedy, said in a statement that “Raya was a girl who shone when she entered any room. She was her mother's princess, she was always the center of attention. She liked the color pink and the Disney princesses."

The IRC statement added that Ruya and her mother were Ethiopian refugees who had arrived in the United States in 2015, fleeing violence in their country, and had built a new life in Boise. The girl's father is in Turkey.

Authorities arrested Timothy Kinner, 30, as the suspect in the killing. Police said Kinner is a California resident who was living with a woman in an apartment in the same building where the tragedy occurred.

The children who were attacked were between 3 and 12 years old, and according to the police three people are still hospitalized in critical condition. Boise Police Department Chief Bill Bones said at a press conference that Kinner had returned to the building seeking revenge after being asked to leave. The woman Kinner was staying with in the building was not present when he allegedly attacked the party guests, whom he did not know. The case is still under investigation.
