A woman in Texas - who pretended to be pregnant - is accused of killing her friend to steal her newborn daughter. The victim, Heidi Broussard, 33, was allegedly killed by Magen Fieramusca, also 33, who kidnapped her and her baby Margo, less than a month old, on December 12, with the idea of staying with the girl. Heidi's mother, Tammy Broussard, spoke to PEOPLE after the tragedy.

According to the authorities, Broussard was strangled. "Supposedly she had been friends with Heidi for a long time," said the mother about her daughter's alleged murderer. "Heidi had so many friends. Everyone loved her. We thought Magen loved her, too, but obviously it wasn't. She loved Margo”, she adds about her three-week-old granddaughter. "That is what she wanted."

The mother assures that Magen has never liked her since she learned of the friendship between them. The results of a DNA examination of a baby who was rescued at Fieramusca's home are still awaited, but police suspect it is Margo, Heidi's missing daughter. The little girl is in good health and is under the care of the Texas Department of Child Protection while the investigation continues.

Another friend of Heidi's, Vickie Shreves, told PEOPLE that she and the alleged killer, Fieramusca, were present when Heidi gave birth to her daughter Margo in November. When Fieramusca saw the baby, he told them that she was pregnant and that she was going to have her own daughter in a week, but she did not appear to be about to give birth.

Tammy Broussard said her daughter Heidi "was full of life" and cannot believe that it was taken from her in such a cruel way. "She was supposed to be friends with my daughter," she said. "We are trying to understand this. Who would do something like that to a friend?”
