Ana Julia Quezada, the 45-year-old Dominican woman who first hid and then, according to the authorities, confessed to the murder of an 8-year-old boy who has shaken Spain, she had "maximum coldness" when it came to executing the crime. This was revealed this Thursday by high officials of the Civil Guard in Almería, Andalusia, at a press conference to explain their investigation of the chilling event.

The Quisqueyan, who has lived in the Iberian peninsula for decades, made headlines when together with Ángel Cruz, the boy's father, he began to search for Gabriel Cruz, who disappeared on February 27.

"[He is] a person with maximum coldness, possessive, self-centered … That is a little the profile considering that he is a little manipulative", explained José Hernández Mosquera and Juan Jesús Rein, heads of the Central Operational Unit and the Almería Command.

There was detailed the chilling way in which the woman killed him with an ax, suffocating him and hiding his body in a well.

"[This crime is an] illegal arrest and murder" was said about the case that is kept under summary secrecy while the woman remains in a cell in Almería. "The autopsy, the next day, reveals that death occurred on the 27th, the day of the disappearance, and that the cause is suffocation."

As explained, the boy was last seen around 3:30 pm when he went to play with his cousins. Around 6:30 the same day, when his grandmother saw that the boy was not coming to dinner, she went to ask about him with the neighbors, without finding him. There the alarms went off and the search for “Pescaíto” began, as they called the child affection and kept the Spanish public on edge.

After a strategic police maneuver, Quezada was misled, who unearthed the boy's body from the garden of a family-owned farm last weekend. The woman was later arrested and finally confessed to her crime.

Thousands have turned to the networks to pay tribute to the victim:

The defendant gave her statement this Thursday and now remains locked up without bail due to the seriousness of the crime, the possible removal of evidence and the risk of escape, according to the EFE agency.

On the other hand, it was said that the boy was buried in a private ceremony in a small cemetery in the town of Fernán Pérez, in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park. However, a judge ordered that his remains not be cremated, in case the murderer confessed, or "the witch" as they now call him, did not collaborate with the investigation.

Rest in peace.
