The Argentine Foreign Ministry explained that the five men, natives of the city of Rosario, had traveled to the City of Skyscrapers as part of a trip to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their graduation from polytechnic school.

"For us today is not one more day," relatives of Erlij and workers from his company in Rosario said in a statement. “We are deeply hurt by the absence of Ariel Erlij, someone who was much more than a father and a great businessman. He was above all a great person”.

According to the Argentine press, Erlij was the organizer of the trip and thanks to his good financial situation as the owner of a steel company, he paid the expenses to some of his friends.

"They left the airport happy. Yesterday the 10 were together for the first time and they decided to ride a bicycle, but they never came,”Clarín Cecilia Piedrabuena, the wife of one of the survivors, told the Buenos Aires newspaper. “They were 10 friends from high school, they always got together. What happened is terrible."
