Despite the fact that the process for apology of the crime that weighs on Gerardo Ortiz in Jalisco, Mexico, has not concluded, the singer now adds a new controversy thanks to his new musical production Comeré Callado Volume 1, which includes a song exalting a well-known drug dealer.
"I love my people in Jalisco, really," was the only thing Ortiz wanted to say to the media present at an autograph signing when asked about this matter. "I love the Mexican Republic, as I love all my public. What more can I say about that? I think I have given everything to my audience”.
The song “El M” is supposedly dedicated to Nemesio Oseguera El Mencho, leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, which has not been well received by everyone.
According to state authorities, "just spreading it can generate various behaviors that harm society", so they will thoroughly study any request by the interpreter of "Forgive me" to make presentations.
Ortiz was arrested in 2015 accused of various crimes related to the recording and content of the video for his song “Fuiste mía,” which was also accused of legitimizing violence against women.
Although Ortiz was acquitted because the court considered that the responsibility fell on the production house, the prosecution appealed the acquittal with the argument that the artist was the protagonist of the video.
"We consider that he [Gerard Ortiz] is part of this filming and then he is the one who is promoting himself through video," Jalisco central prosecutor Marisela Gómez explained to the Mexican television program Ventaneando (TV Azteca).
